Rome Countryside: Wine Tasting Tour with Private Driver

About This Experience
Rome Grand Tour runs this private 3-hour wine outing with pickup in Rome and a driver for the whole trip. The drive to Frascati takes about 45 minutes each way, which leaves around 1.5 hours for a guided visit and tasting at a countryside vineyard. It costs from $156 per person when two travel and holds a 4.8 rating from 65 GetYourGuide reviews. Guiding is offered in English, Italian and Spanish.
The operator says a sommelier or local wine expert usually leads the visit. You tour the vineyard and wine cellars, then taste a range of wines with local cheeses, cured meats, olives and artisanal bread chosen to match. Along the way the guide covers how the wine is made, how to taste it, and tips on choosing wine in Italy. The listing does not name the winery, so ask the operator if a particular estate matters to you.
This tour suits travelers who want a short wine outing from Rome without trains or station transfers, and those who would like guiding in Spanish or Italian. Wear comfortable shoes, since the listing mentions some walking at the vineyard. Start times vary by date, so check availability for one that fits around your Rome plans. Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours ahead.
One lower-rated reviewer praised the driver but felt the tasting fell short of what they expected, so read the inclusions closely. The food is a tasting plate of snacks, and no lunch is listed. The station-start Frascati farmhouse tours include a full meal for less per person, though you take the train from Termini yourself, and another private tour on this site costs from $175 per person for two.

This was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it. The room where we had our wine tasting was beautiful and everything from the location, the wine and food pairings, and the knowledge and descriptions provided by our sommelier spoke to the tradition and dedication of this family to their excellent wines and olive oils. My wife and I could not have asked for a more perfect way to end our trip!

For a last minute booking for our last day in Rome this tour was a pleasant surprise. Our private driver was friendly and the car was very comfortable for our drive out to the winery.. we enjoyed our wine tasting tour so much we purchased some wine to be shipped home! Our sommelier was so lovely and informative and the venue is beautiful.. the proud owner of this boutique winery introduced himself to us and thanked us for our purchases… looking forward to our delivery now to reminisce on our time in Rome..
