Orvieto: Wine Tour, 5 Minutes from the Historic Center

About This Experience
Cantine Neri runs this 2-hour tour and tasting at its cellars among the vineyards just outside Orvieto. It holds 5.0 from 39 GetYourGuide reviews and starts from $111 per person. It is not a day trip from Rome: pickup is in Orvieto, so you need to reach the town first and add this to a day you plan yourself.
A van collects you in Orvieto for a 10-minute drive to the estate. You spend about 30 minutes on a guided tour that includes Etruscan caves dug beneath the property. The tasting then runs about 80 minutes, with three wines paired with local products, before the van takes you back to Orvieto. The guide explains each wine and how it pairs with the food, and the whole visit, including both van rides, fits into about 2 hours. That leaves the rest of your day free for the town.
Groups are limited to seven people, and the guide speaks Italian and English. The winery describes its production as sustainable and its tasting rooms as having panoramic views. There is no lunch, only local products served with the wines, so plan a meal in Orvieto before or after. Pickup is included, so you do not need a car or a taxi to reach the cellars. With a cap of seven, you share the cellars and the tasting table with only a handful of other guests.
This tour suits you if you are already spending time in Orvieto and want a small-group cellar visit and tasting without a coach group. With no low-rated reviews on the listing, the main caveat is practical: it is not suitable for wheelchair users, and you arrange your own travel to Orvieto. You can cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund, which helps if your Orvieto plans are still taking shape. Pair it with a few hours in the town for a fuller day.

Really enjoyable experience visiting the vineyard at Cantine Neri. We were picked up at the time agreed with no issues - which was very convenient when travelling without a car. Andrei was a lovely guide who showed us round the winery and explained the process of making the wines. We tried a variety of four of the wines and these were served with a selection of local meats and cheeses. You can also buy wines directly from them on site if you really like any. Would definitely recommend this experience.
