From Rome: Wine Tour & Farmhouse Lunch in the Vineyard

About This Experience
This is the shortest and lowest-priced of the Minardi family's three Frascati tours: about 3 hours at their farmhouse, from $83 per person, the lowest price among the tours with pages on this site. There is no town walk and no cooking. The visit starts at 12:00 at the farmhouse with a guided walk through the vineyard and old cellar, a tasting of three wines and the family's olive oil with food pairings, and a lunch cooked by the chef.
The farmhouse sits in the Frascati wine valleys, about 7 minutes from town according to the operator, and the family has grown vines and olives there for nine generations. They describe the old cellar, where they once made jug wine, as a kind of Frascati wine museum. The tasting comes with Italian snacks and is followed by a traditional lunch of local specialties, after which you are driven back to Frascati station for the train to Rome.
The train from Roma Termini is not included; Trenitalia's regional fare is €2.10 each way. The operator recommends the 9:49 a.m. train (9:54 a.m. on Sundays), which reaches Frascati around 10:20 a.m., leaving well over an hour before the 11:45 a.m. pickup in front of the station. They suggest filling it with a stroll through the historic center or a coffee in Piazza Roma. Saturday instructions differ, so follow the ones in your confirmation.
If you drive or take a taxi, you meet directly at the winery at 12:00 and the operator asks you to let them know in advance. This version suits travelers who want the vineyard and lunch on a tighter budget. The family's 4-hour half-day adds a guided town walk with a wine stop for $17 more per person, and their pasta masterclass, also $100, adds a cooking class. The 4.9 rating rests on only 20 reviews so far.

Very enjoyable activity. The live guide is very friendly and knows the estate, its history, and the wines in general perfectly. We were able to taste two wines at the foot of the vines, in the shade of a large tree, while discussing the wines. After a short tour of the original underground cellar with a few explanations about winemaking, we had lunch with a starter and a pasta dish. Unlimited wine. Finally, a guitarist came to entertain us at the end of the meal, accompanied by the two cooks singing. I recommend this activity.
