From Rome: Pasta Masterclass & Wine Tour in the Vineyard

4.9 (183 verified reviews)

About This Experience

This is the Minardi family's cooking version of their Frascati day: about 4 hours at the farmhouse, a short drive from Frascati station, with a hands-on pasta class, a wine tasting, a walk through the old vineyards and a lunch of the pasta you made. It costs from $100 per person and holds a 4.9 rating from 183 GetYourGuide reviews. Groups are capped at 15, the class runs in English, and a licensed wine taster leads the tasting.

A member of the team meets you at Frascati station and drives you about 5 minutes to the farmhouse. In aprons, you make three local pastas from scratch with the chef: ravioli with a local filling, fettuccine and maltagliati. The tasting that follows covers the family's Frascati Superiore DOCG whites and Vagnolo, a red IGP made from 100% Cesanese grapes, served with their own extra virgin olive oil, cheese and wine jam. Then you walk the old vineyards and cellar.

Lunch opens with a spread of seasonal local food, followed by the three pastas from the class, with Frascati wine and water on the table. The chef can adapt the meal for vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free diets if you say so when you book. Afterwards you are dropped in Frascati center, with time to look around the town before the train; the operator says trains run about once an hour.

The train from Roma Termini is not included; Trenitalia's regional fare is €2.10 each way, and the operator suggests the 9:49 a.m. departure (9:54 a.m. on Sundays). Saturdays work differently: you take the 10:14 a.m. train to Tor Vergata, the second Frascati station, and the team meets you there, while the ride home still leaves from Frascati station. Choose this one if you want to cook; the family's half-day tour swaps the class for a guided walk through Frascati.
