From Rome: Bagnoregio & Orvieto Day Trip with Wines & Lunch

4.7 (1,539 verified reviews)

About This Experience

City Wonders sells this 12-hour coach day as the 3 Regions Day Trip: Civita di Bagnoregio in Lazio, a farmhouse lunch near Montepulciano in Tuscany, and Orvieto in Umbria. It starts from $122 per person and holds 4.7 from 1,539 GetYourGuide reviews. You meet at the lion fountain in Piazza del Popolo and finish at Viale Giorgio Washington.

The coach drives about 2 hours to Civita di Bagnoregio, where you have 2 hours of free time on the cliff-top village. Another 1.5 hours takes you to a farmhouse near Montepulciano for lunch and the tasting, which run about 105 minutes. After a 75-minute drive you get 2 hours of free time in Orvieto and its cathedral square, and the ride back to Rome takes about 1.5 hours.

Lunch is three courses at a Tuscan farmhouse and vineyard, with dishes such as panzanella, salami, capocollo, wild boar sausage and Tuscan pecorino. You taste five wines, including a Brunello di Montalcino. The menu changes with the season, so declare any dietary needs in advance. Lunch and the tasting are the only wine stop of the day, and the guide leaves you to explore Civita and Orvieto on your own during the free time.

This day suits you if you want hill towns first and a wine lunch second, with three places in one trip. Some reviewers found the lunch crowded and loud with more than one coach group, and felt the tasting had little explanation. A few reached Orvieto early, before many shops opened. Civita involves steps and a steep approach, and the tour cannot take wheelchairs.

A sensational tour! The cherry on top is undoubtedly Civita di Bagnoregio, which is truly impressive! Many thanks to our guide Chiara, who was very attentive and dedicated to looking after all her passengers!

If I could give this experience more stars, I would. This went beyond my expectations and if you've stumbled upon this tour in your search of things to do while in Rome...don't second guess yourself and don't read any more reviews...just book it. I promise you that you will NOT be disappointed . Our guide, Chiara, went above and beyond to make this an extremely memorable trip and taught me so much about the history and knowledge to not only the places we visited but more of Italy. I love it even more now thanks to her. What a beautiful woman inside and out whose career choice to guide visitors was certainly the right move. We appreciated our driver Sergio keeping us safe and on the move for the day. His driving skills impressed me moving that bus around some of the narrow and winding roads we encountered. Every bit of this package will leave you wanting more and to love Italy more than before you experienced it. My only complaint is there want enough time...but I'll come back!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Bagnoregio and Orvieto day trip cost?

It starts from $122 per person on a date checked in October 2026. That covers the coach, the guide, the Civita and Orvieto visits, a three-course lunch and five wines. Hotel pickup and tips are extra.

Which wines are in the tasting?

You taste five wines at a farmhouse near Montepulciano, including a Brunello di Montalcino. The listing does not name the other four, and some reviewers wanted more explanation of each wine.

Which regions does the tour visit?

Three. Civita di Bagnoregio is in northern Lazio, the lunch farmhouse near Montepulciano is in Tuscany, and Orvieto is in Umbria. That is why the operator calls it the 3 Regions Day Trip.

Is this tour OK for people with limited mobility?

No. The operator cannot accommodate wheelchairs or mobility impairments. Civita has a steep approach with steps, and Orvieto is a hill town, so wear comfortable shoes.

Where does the day start and end?
