Frascati: Tour in E-Bike with Wine Tasting

5.0 (45 verified reviews)

About This Experience

This is the active choice among the Frascati tours: a 3.5-hour guided e-bike ride from Frascati into the Castelli Romani park, ending with a cellar visit and a Frascati Superiore tasting. It costs from $90 per person and holds a 5.0 rating from 45 GetYourGuide reviews. The guide speaks English and Italian, and the price includes a modern electric mountain bike and a local mountain-bike guide.

The ride crosses Frascati past its alleys, cathedral and 16th-century villas, then climbs toward Monte Tuscolo and its archaeological park. The operator puts the route at about 25 km before the wine stop. The winery varies; the listing names cellars such as Olivella, Villa Simone, Casal Pilozzo, Castel de Paolis and De Santis, or the wine museum in Monte Porzio Catone. After the visit and tasting you ride back to Frascati station.

The listed meeting point is the Ciclotech bike rental, and the operator describes the ride as starting from Frascati station, so confirm the exact spot when you book. Hotel pickup is not included, so you make your own way to Frascati from Rome. The listing asks you to bring a passport or ID card. Bike panniers are not included, and no lunch is listed, so plan to eat before or after the ride.

The tour does not run on rainy days, so keep a backup plan if the forecast turns. The listing marks it unsuitable for people with mobility impairments. You cover a long distance with a climb, so it suits travelers who are comfortable on a bike. If you would prefer a seated tasting with a full meal, the farmhouse-lunch tours from Frascati station cover that at similar or slightly higher prices.

What Travelers Say

Our guide Flavio was excellent, knowledgeable, charming and confident.

My husband and I really enjoyed the bike tour with Flavio. We are in our late 30s from New York/Miami, in great physical shape and have done many bike tours in cities all over the world. Note that this tour definitely requires a strong comfort level biking as you are going for long stretches uphill, downhill and on some rougher terrain. The mountain e-bike was absolutely necessary and made it very easy to do but I think this tour is still for those who are confident biking. It was wonderful to see some of the viewpoints and sites just outside of Frascati town and to get a workout in with all the pasta we’re eating! Flavio is from the area and was a friendly knowledgeable guide who studied history. He also shared many personal recommendations with us not just for local spots but also for future vacations to Italy. We’ve been to Rome countless times and are glad we finally came out to the Castelli Romani towns and recommend others do the same!

We had a wonderful bike tour with Flavio. The scenery was breathtaking, and Flavio was both personable and incredibly knowledgeable about the area’s history. The wine was delicious, and the entire day felt truly special. I highly recommend this bike tour!
