Frascati: Half Day Wine Tour

About This Experience
Old Frascati Food & Wine runs this 4.5-hour tour every day, from late morning to mid-afternoon: a winery visit outside Frascati, a guided food walk in town and an osteria lunch. It costs from $106 per person and holds a 4.8 rating from 15 GetYourGuide reviews, a small sample so far. Your driver meets you at the station, so the train from Rome is the one leg you arrange and pay for yourself.
Meeting times follow the trains: 10:19 a.m. at Frascati station Monday to Friday, 10:24 a.m. on Sundays, and 10:32 a.m. at Tor Vergata station on Saturdays. The winemaker shows you the vineyard, the 16th-century farmhouse and a deep wine cave dating to Ancient Rome. You taste three wines, Frascati Superiore DOCG, Roma Red IGT and the sweet Cannellino DOCG, with fresh baked goods from a bakery in town and views toward Rome.
In Frascati, a guide who lives in town takes you past bakers, butchers and produce stalls, with tastes of slow-roasted pork and jug wine. Lunch at a local osteria opens with cheeses, vegetables and salumi, then homemade pasta with a seasonal sauce and the restaurant's house wine. The operator says you should finish by about 3 to 3:30 p.m., and trains back to Rome leave every hour at 36 minutes past until 9:36 p.m., every other hour on Sundays.
The listing marks the tour as unsuitable for people with food allergies and for wheelchair users, so check with the operator first if either applies. It suits travelers who want the town as well as the vineyard, with a full sit-down lunch. For the vineyard walk, the listing suggests comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen and water. Hotel pickup is not offered, and the 4.8 rating rests on 15 reviews.

I loved absolutely everything about the tour. Both Paula at the winery and Dominique were fantastic. Excellent guides, excellent food and wine. Everything was absolutely perfect. We were very happy.

What a fantastic way to spend a half day just outside Rome! The atmosphere was super relaxed and very genuine. At the winery we got to walk through the vineyards and explore a centuries-old wine cave with the winemaker Paola. The wine tasting was excellent, with generous pours and thoughtful explanations from Paola who is very passionate about her work. Our guide is town was Daniela and she was friendly and fun, showing us around Frascati and we tried some traditional local porchetta with some house wine. The osteria lunch is delicious and was paired with more local wine. This tour strikes a wonderful balance between wine, food, and Italian countryside charm.

It was a really great tour. The winery's explanation was very polite and easy to understand, and I felt their passion for Italian wine. It was great that the tour in January was fully heated. I left my glasses behind and was about to give up, but they delivered them to the restaurant, and I'm so grateful. After that, the guide who showed us around Frascati was also kind and gave us a detailed explanation in a concise manner so that we could make it in time for lunch, which was very satisfying.
